Just before Christmas, Little Moose held a jewellery making workshop at the iconic Southbank Centre in London called 'An Evening of Doodllery'.
The workshop was all about giving people the chance to sit down and make a piece of acrylic jewellery from scratch, in just the same way that we do here at Little Moose for our quirky Doodllery collection of necklaces, earrings and brooches, as well as find out a little bit about Carrie, her style and her doodle inspiration. It was also a great opportunity for anyone who was interested in making their own jewellery to ask some questions and find out some neat tips and tricks to help them along the way.

Rather than just making an acrylic Doodllery character that they have already seen, we really wanted to create some new designs for the workshop. As well as something new and exciting, we also wanted to allow people the flexibility to customise the characters so that not every necklace or brooch looked the same - unfortunately, we couldn't just drag a laser cutter with us on the train (and they make a terrible racket) so Carrie set about creating 5 new designs with customisable elements, such as the colour of the bodies, cheeks etc.

Our workshop instruction sheet and designs - which is your favourite?
The evening began (after a complementary glass of wine) with Carrie taking centre stage and chatting about the inspiration for her doodled style on which the Doodllery characters are based. With people eager to get making, we broke the bad news that they would first have to peel a protective layer of film from each and every piece of acrylic, just as we do! Imagine sitting and peeling a thousand tiny Doodllery eyes! Luckily, there were only a few bits to peel before the real fun could begin. Everybody would be walking away with a pair of Doodllery earrings, a necklace and a brooch - as well as the opportunity to doodle their own backing card on which to present their goodies.

We were delighted to see people experimenting with colours on our new owl and dog brooches, and their were some really vibrant and exciting patterns on show.

If you like the designs, some of them will be available on Little Moose very soon.
Hopefully everybody had a jolly good time and took away something that they loved, just in time for Christmas. We hope to be doing some more workshops this year, so keep checking back to stay updated.
